Approach at an angle and stand just slightly turned away. Pause for a few seconds acting like your totally unaware she is there. Then turn your head towards her and deliver your opener. Do not turn your body!
Your opener should be topical situational type. For example “what do you think to the selection here”. This is a good brain engager and works when delivered with physical presence.
